Improve Your Application Troubleshooting Skills. Applications often do strange things neither their users expect nor their creators intended. The reasons for this are manifold, but in order to be able to find the root cause of a problem you need to have at least a basic understanding of how developers work.
In this session Helge explains the world from the point of view of a developer. Building on that he describes why applications work they way they do. Then he examines how powerful tools like Sysinternals Process Explorer show what is going on inside applications and how that knowledge can be used to troubleshoot all sorts of issues, ranging from hangs to analyzing the performance footprint of applications.
In this session you will learn:

- How to better troubleshoot application issues
- How to properly use powerful analysis tools like Sysinternals Process Explorer
- How to identify obstacles to great application performance

Anatomy of how a company got hacked. Security is a current topic (that should be) on everyone’s agenda: your systems, data, identity and IPO are at risk! In order to understand how to protect yourself against hackers you need to understand how hackers think and how they operate.
In this session Geert Braakhekke and Remko Weijnen will present the analysis of a fictional attack against a car company where hackers managed to capture credentials, bypass multifactor authentication and hack one of the company’s products. Hackers used interesting technology such as a USB device that emulates a keyboard, GPU technology to crack hashes and smartcard emulators. Emphasis in the session will be to live demo the technologies used rather than Powerpoint them.

See which obstacles a customer has to overcome when he decide to implement something as an early adopter. Sacha's employer "Die Mobiliar" migrated from Windows 7 to Window 10 starting in late 2015. On App/Desktop Deployments. In working with enterprises, I am constantly surprised at the ways in which they bungle getting apps and desktops out.  It isn’t (usually) incompetence, or lack of process.  It usually is inadequate and outdated processes, lack of focus on details, and verification of work performed by others, especially when contractors/third party actors are involved.  We’re going to focus and talk (yes, you don’t get to just sit and drink) about what a complete app/desktop delivery process should include today.

How Happy is a Happy User: Practical Tips On Quantifying User Experience. Happy, satisfied users are the key to any application or desktop delivery project. Yet, often "health" of a service is measured in abstract performance metrics - network throughput, CPU usage, Memory Usage, Disk performance. This doesn't necessarily translate to a great user experience.New to our industry is a growing trend to add in additional metrics and services that can give a "user experience" value. Is this any use to you, and how are people calculating it? In this session, we will consider user experience metrics from a host of different vendors who are innovating in this space such as Layer8, PairWise, egInnovations, ControlUp, UberAgent, Login VSI, Appensure and Liquidware Labs to understand how they are approaching measuring user experience. We'll also be looking at what you can do natively within the Microsoft and Citrix suite to help.

Extreme Makeover – Turning Desktop Computers into Managed Thin Clients. The benefits of virtualizing the desktop are well documented, but projects stall unless there is a valid business case, which in every case involves financial justification.  IGEL Technology makes virtualization projects viable by providing the means to manage existing assets as thin clients using IGEL’s industry-leading and extremely cost effective workstation management tools. In this session, you will learn that being thin is not about hardware.  We will discuss leading options for turning existing personal computers, laptops, etc. into managed thin client workstations.  You will also see how easily a desktop or laptop computer can be turned into a workspace managed thin client using the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter and Universal Management Suite. Each attendee will walk away with a certificate for three IGEL Technology UDC2 Thin Clients, complete with IGEL’s workspace management system.

What’s New In XenServer 7.0, With a Deep Dive Into Intel GVT-g. The latest release of XenServer is out. So what? In this session we'll go into the technical detail of the new features, particularly those that are unique to XenServer (e.g. XenServer Tools in Windows Update, and the Direct Inspect APIs, a unique security feature to help prevent zero days attacks on guest VMs). We’ll also dedicate 20 minutes on a whole section dedicated to Intel GPU virtualisation (GVT-g), given that XenServer is the only commercial hypervisor that this is available on. We’ll end up with taking views from the floor as to what you think we should be doing in the next release!

Azure RemoteApp past, present & future. With the initial release, Azure RemoteApp had very limited functionality as many common features were not fully implemented at this stage. But immediately after the initial release it became clear that Azure RemoteApp takes part in Microsoft’s continuous development strategy which is applicable for every Azure component. Many iterations later, Azure RemoteApp has grown into a much more mature solution to publish legacy applications from the cloud, as a full-blown service. In this technical deep dive session, we will take a closer look at where Azure RemoteApp came from, but more importantly where it stands today and what Microsoft’s future plans are. Even though Benny and Freek are both Microsoft MVPs on Remote Desktop Services, they are both independent consultants and will tell you the whole unbiased truth about Azure RemoteApp, including limitations and pitfalls you need to be aware of. They will cover the good, the bad and the ugly. Join their session to get fully up to speed with Azure RemoteApp including the latest features like HTML5, user based assignment, the (new) Azure Portal and Azure Resource Manager integration options.

Unleashing Citrix Flexcast with Nutanix Acropolis. As virtual desktop infrastructures grow larger and larger, so does the strain being put on the underlying infrastructures that run them.
Nutanix Acropolis, based on a hyper-converged foundation, solves many of today’s challenges with scaling out Citrix XenDesktop environments in truly unique ways. By drastically simplifying storage and even making the hypervisor layer disappear as a management object, the true power of Citrix’ Flexcast technology can be unleashed. In this technical presentation Martijn will explain how Nutanix integrates with Citrix XenDesktop, and we’ll give you a first look into the integration between Machine Creation Services and the Acropolis Hypervisor. And there will be plenty of demo’s.

Extreme Makeover – Turning Desktop Computers into Managed Thin Clients
